Our School History
The school was established in 1958 at Dr Nhlapo Primary School with only four classes. The school then moved from Dr Nhlapo Primary School premises to it's new building in 1960 with a main building of one office and ten classes.
Through the years, Tshirela Primary School has had a number of principals; which are as follows:
First Principal - Mr Mfelang (1958 - 1967)
Mr Mfelang served the school from it's inception until 7 years later into it's new premises.
Second Principal - Mr. Matlare (1968 - 1976)
The continuation of the school's legacy was now in the hands of Mr. Matlare; which he executed with extreme excellence.
Third Principal - Mr. Mabitle (1976 - 1977)
Though only serving only one year at the Tshirela Primary, Mr. Mabitle contributed significantly to the school's success.
Forth Principal - Mr. B.S Lenake (1977 - 1995)
Mr. Lenake served the school from May 1977 to December 1995. During his era, two classes behind the office we built (current Grade 7 classes)
Fifth Principal - Mr. Matekane (1996 - 1996)
After Mr. Lenake's depature, the school was left without a principal. This is when Mr. Matekane came in as acting principal from January 1996 to March 1996.
Sixth Principal - Mr. Naidoo (1996 - 2007)
Mr. Naidoo served the school from April 1996 to March 2007
Seventh Principal
Mrs Khanyi served the school as acting principal from March 2007 - April 2007. In May 2007 - December 2007, HOD's Mr. T.S Phali, Mrs D.A Khunou and mr. J.S Moeketsi were acting principals each per term.
Current Principal - Mr. J. Kumalo
Mr. Kumalo is currently serving as the school's principal since his appointment into the position in January 2008
